When you first open up ShemaleStarsDB, you’ll think you’ve died and gone to heaven. The site focuses on pretty much the best thing in the world—full-frontal nudes. You can scroll through the list of names and pictures, and click on any one you find interesting. When you click on any given picture, you’ll be brought to a page with a small gallery of images. Beyond that, there isn’t much for you. I expected something like the titular database would lead you to expect: at the very least some basic information about the girl, and maybe even a list of all of their work to date. But, no: what you get is basically a link a photoset, with a navigation bar at the bottom to switch between a selection of other galleries. There are videos, too, but for whatever reason, they’re sorted separately on the main page of ShemaleStarDB. About half-way down the page, you’ll see “movies” if you squint—the text doesn’t exactly stand out—followed by another gallery of girls’ names. This time you’ll get the same basic page if you click through, but with videos instead of pictures. You can switch between image galleries and video galleries once you’re on a specific girl’s page, but I don’t see why they’re separated to begin with. That’s about all you’ll get. This disappointed me. When I saw the name, I expected an exhaustive group of every picture and video that a star has been in. But instead, I got a small selection, with a link that’s usually just to those same pictures or videos on another website. Sure, sometimes you’ll get a bit more if you click through, but more often than not it's just the same content hosted elsewhere. And sometimes it’s even behind a paywall. In my opinion, the best way to use ShemaleStarDB is as a discovery engine. On the right side of the main page, you’ll see links to a bunch of other sites that host free shemale porn. Find a girl that you like on ShemaleStarDB, then go over to others of those to look for videos. It’s a killer combination, like peanut butter and jelly, or masturbation and self-loathing. And it’s far more effective and rewarding than just looking at whatever selection of images you’re given by ShemaleStarDB. You can also look at shemales born today (in the top-left corner), the day’s most popular searches (right below), and the most popular searches of all time (one step after that, right under the ad that I can’t seem to get rid of no matter how much I configure my ad-blocker). If you go one more step down you’ll see a list of the top-rated shemales. The best way to browse the site, though, is by the tag cloud at the bottom of the main page. Or at least, it should be, if half of the tags weren’t useless. Some of them are fantastic and well-targeted, like “big tits” and other descriptive categories, but others are pretty much next to pointless. A good 75% of these are linked to a specific location—and unless you live in Cincinnati or one of the many other cities with its own tag, I can’t think of a single reason why you’d care whether or not you were masturbating to a shemale from that place. If they would cut down these geographical tags to just a handful and replace them with some more relevant descriptors this section would be a huge help, but as it is it's just too cluttered to be genuinely useful. What follows from this is that the recommendations system, though well-intentioned, is practically useless. Every page has a section of related images and related videos, but as far as I can tell these would be just as good if they were chosen at random. The tags are nearly useless, so the connection between the page you’re on and the recommendations is also nearly useless. And then there’s one other way to navigate the database, which I thought no site could screw up: the alphabetical listing. Even if properly implemented, this would probably be the worst way to browse the site. You basically have to know who you’re looking to find for it to be useful, and at that point, why not search? But, lo and behold, ShemaleStarDB has managed to fuck this up too. Just to check it out, I decided to jump to the letter G. And who did I see when examining the list, right up near the top? Girls like Alicia Jolie, Allissa, and Ami. Now, I’m not an expert, but I think those names are missing something. Namely, the letter G? You know, the only thing that I’m supposed to be seeing right now?

Broken Links and Broken Hearts

The problems with ShemaleStarDB don’t end there. For starters, some of the girls’ pages are completely unavailable. It doesn’t happen often, but every once in a while, I’ll click on a cuties face and I’ll get brought to a completely unrelated site. Granted, it’s usually still pretty hot porn, so it’s never that disappointing, but it’s also not quite what I’m looking for. And then there’s an even worse sin. For the life of me, I can very rarely get the navigation links on each girls’ page to work. There’s a section where you can supposedly sort through pictures and movies, but no matter how long I try these links don’t work for me. Believe me, I’ve spent countless hours trying to sort through videos of Thays Anderson to try to get a good look at her yummy girlcock, but to no avail. I have the same problem with the categories. There’s something you should be able to click to bring you to a list of categories, but it doesn’t work for me. Having this feature would really take the site to the next level.
